WHY IS A VISA NECESSARY FOR VIETNAM?
Most foreign travelers must hold a visa to enter Vietnam. For several years now, the electronic visa (e-visa) has considerably simplified this process: it is no longer necessary to visit a consulate, everything is now done online.
THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF VIETNAM VISA
There are mainly two broad categories of visa for foreign travelers:
- The tourist visa (DL), for leisure, family or cultural visits.
- The business visa (DN), for professional travelers: meetings, business prospecting, assignments.
Each of these visas is available for a duration of 30 or 90 days, and as a single entry or multiple entries depending on your travel needs.
WHAT DOCUMENTS SHOULD I PROVIDE?
The e-visa application requires only two documents:
- A copy of your passport, valid for at least 6 months after the planned entry date into Vietnam.
- A recent, sharp passport-style photo on a white background.
No other supporting document is generally required for a standard tourist or business visa.
HOW MUCH DOES A VIETNAM VISA COST?
The price is made up of two parts: service fees, which vary by processing region (North or South) and chosen delay, and government fees, added depending on entry type (single or multiple). Rates are displayed in VND with an indicative equivalent in USD. You will find the full details, no hidden fees, on our dedicated page.
WHAT IS THE PROCESSING TIME?
The delay ranges from 1 hour to 4 days depending on the region and formula chosen. To be processed within the announced delay, your request must be submitted before one of the two daily cut-off times: 08:00 or 14:30. Nationalities subject to specific conditions (Mauritania, Egypt, Turkey, Israel) follow dedicated tiers and rules, detailed on our Pricing page.
HOW DO I APPLY ONLINE?
The application takes place entirely online, in a few simple steps:
- Enter your personal details (first name, last name, e-mail, phone, nationality).
- Provide your trip details (arrival date, length of stay, visa type, entry type).
- Upload your passport and your passport-style photo.
- Review your summary and confirm your request.
Our team then checks your file before sending you a secure payment link. Payment is never requested before this verification.

Traveling to Vietnam for a holiday, a family visit or to discover the culture? The tourist visa (DL) is the one you need. Here is everything you need to know to get it easily.
WHAT IS THE VIETNAM TOURIST VISA?
The tourist visa, also called the DL visa, is intended for travelers going to Vietnam for personal reasons: holidays, tourism, visiting loved ones. It does not allow you to carry out a professional activity on site.
WHAT DURATIONS ARE AVAILABLE?
The tourist visa is available for two durations:
- 30 days, suited to a classic discovery trip.
- 90 days, for longer stays or travelers wishing to explore the country in depth.
It can be issued as a single entry (one border crossing only) or multiple entries (several trips in and out during the validity period), useful for example if you plan a stopover in a neighboring country.
WHAT DOCUMENTS ARE NEEDED?
Two documents are enough to build your file:
- A passport valid for at least 6 months after your planned entry date into Vietnam.
- A recent passport-style photo on a white background.
No hotel reservation or plane ticket is required for the application itself.
WHAT IS THE PROCESSING TIME?
The delay ranges from 1 hour to 4 days depending on the region concerned (North or South) and the formula chosen. Requests submitted before 08:00 or before 14:30 are processed in the same-day session; past these times, they move to the next session.
HOW MUCH DOES A TOURIST VISA COST?
The price is made up of service fees (depending on region and chosen delay) and government fees, added depending on entry type (single or multiple). Find the full, up-to-date details, in VND and USD, on our Pricing page — no hidden fees, and payment only requested after your file has been validated.
HOW DO I APPLY?
The application is done entirely online, in a few minutes: your personal details, your trip details, then uploading your passport and your photo. Once your file is verified, you receive a secure payment link by e-mail.
Ready to plan your holiday in Vietnam? Start your tourist visa request now on the site's "Apply" page.
Traveling to Vietnam for professional reasons? The business visa (DN) is the one you need. Here is the essential information to prepare your trip.
WHO IS THE BUSINESS VISA FOR?
The business visa, or DN visa, is for travelers going to Vietnam as part of a professional activity: meetings with partners, business prospecting, one-off assignments or regular trips on behalf of a company.
WHAT DURATION AND ENTRY TYPE SHOULD I CHOOSE?
The business visa is available for 30 or 90 days. Professionals who make several trips in and out of Vietnam over the same period most often choose the 90-day multiple-entry formula, which is more flexible and more economical than submitting several requests.
WHAT DOCUMENTS ARE REQUESTED?
As with the tourist visa, two documents are enough:
- A passport valid for at least 6 months after the planned entry date.
- A recent passport-style photo on a white background.
Depending on your situation, a business invoice may also be provided to you after payment, for your company's accounting.
WHAT DELAY DO I NEED TO GET IT?
The delay depends on the formula chosen: from 1 hour to 4 days depending on the region (North or South) and the urgency of your trip. Files submitted before 08:00 or before 14:30 are processed in the same-day session; past these times, they automatically move to the next session.
HOW MUCH DOES A BUSINESS VISA COST?
The price is made up of two parts: service fees (which vary by region and chosen delay) and government fees, added for every new application depending on entry type (single or multiple). Check our Pricing page for the up-to-date details in VND and USD. As with all our services, payment is only requested once your file has been validated by our team.

Good news: applying for a Vietnam e-visa requires very few documents. Here is the complete list, along with our tips to avoid any file rejection.
THE PASSPORT
The essential document is your valid passport. Two conditions must absolutely be met:
- Your passport must remain valid for at least 6 months after your planned entry date into Vietnam.
- It must have at least one blank page for a possible stamp.
The photo or scan of your passport must be sharp, complete and perfectly legible: avoid glare, folded corners or photos taken in dim light.
THE ID PHOTO
A recent passport-style photo is also required, with the following characteristics:
- Passport-style format (centered face, classic framing)
- Plain white background, no shadows
- Neutral expression, fully visible face (no sunglasses, no headwear except for religious reasons)
- Recent photo (less than 6 months old)
A photo taken with a smartphone in good lighting conditions is entirely acceptable, as long as it meets these criteria.
WHAT IS GENERALLY NOT REQUESTED
For a standard tourist or business visa application, you do not need to provide:
- A hotel reservation
- A round-trip plane ticket
- A letter of invitation (except in special cases for certain specific business visas)
These documents may however be requested directly by the airline or on arrival, so it is advisable to keep them on hand during your trip.
HOW DO I UPLOAD MY DOCUMENTS?
On our platform, uploading is done by drag-and-drop, directly from your computer or smartphone. A preview lets you check immediately that the file sent is the right one before continuing your application.
WHAT HAPPENS IF A DOCUMENT IS NOT COMPLIANT?
If a document does not meet the required criteria (unreadable photo, expired passport, etc.), our team contacts you before any payment so you can correct it. No application is forwarded as-is if a document is a problem.

The price of a Vietnam visa application is made up of two distinct parts: service fees (our service) and government fees (paid to the Vietnamese authorities). This guide helps you understand how your application's price is calculated, so you can choose the formula best suited to your departure.
THE TWO FACTORS THAT DETERMINE SERVICE FEES
Service fees depend on:
- The processing region: North or South (the price differs slightly between the two).
- The desired processing delay: from 1 hour to 4 days depending on how urgent your departure is.
Government fees are always added on top, identical regardless of region, and depend on the entry type chosen (single or multiple).
OUR INDICATIVE RATES — SERVICE FEES (government fees not included)
Northern region:
- 1 Hour: 4,095,000 VND (~158 USD)
- 2 Hours: 3,020,000 VND (~117 USD)

- 1 Day: 1,245,000 VND (~48 USD)
- 2 Days: 1,090,000 VND (~42 USD)

- 3 Days: 1,220,000 VND (~47 USD)
- 4 Days: 1,140,000 VND (~44 USD)
GOVERNMENT FEES (added to every new application)
- Single Entry visa: + 885,000 VND (~35 USD)
- Multiple Entry visa: + 1,770,000 VND (~69 USD)
These amounts are indicative (USD equivalent calculated at an approximate exchange rate) and may change: check our Pricing page for exact, up-to- date prices at the time of your application.
NATIONALITIES SUBJECT TO SPECIFIC CONDITIONS
Some nationalities fall under a specific process, with dedicated rates and delays:
- Mauritania and Egypt: urgent 4-day processing at 1,350,000 VND (~52 USD). This rate is not available for land border entry.
- Turkey and Israel: from 4 hours (2,940,000 VND, ~114 USD) to 4 days (1,875,000 VND, ~73 USD), with land border entry supported at every delay.
If your nationality falls into one of these categories, contact our team to confirm the formula suited to your situation.
SUBMISSION TIMES TO RESPECT
For your request to be processed within the announced delay, it must be submitted before one of the two daily cut-off times: 08:00 for the morning session, or 14:30 for the afternoon session (Vietnam time). A request submitted after 14:30 automatically moves to the next morning's session.
ARE THERE ANY HIDDEN FEES?
No. Our service fees and government fees are displayed clearly and separately before your application. No additional fee will be charged during processing.
WHEN DO I HAVE TO PAY?
At Visa VN, payment is never requested before your file has been verified. Once your request has been checked by our team, you receive a secure payment link by e-mail. This approach protects you from any unfair payment in case of an incomplete or non-compliant file.
HOW CAN I SAVE MONEY ON MY VISA?
If you plan several trips in and out of Vietnam over a short period (for example with a stopover in a neighboring country), choose a multiple- entry formula rather than submitting several visa requests: it is generally cheaper and saves you time.
Want to know the exact price for your trip? Check our Pricing page, then start your visa request in under 2 minutes.
Leaving soon and wondering how long it takes to get a visa for Vietnam? Here are the delays to expect, and what to do if your departure is close.
AVAILABLE DELAYS
Once your file has been submitted and verified by our team, you choose the processing delay that fits your departure, from 1 hour to 4 days depending on the region concerned (North or South):
- Express: 1 Hour, 2 Hours or 3 Hours.
- Fast: 1 Day or 2 Days.
- Standard: 3 Days or 4 Days.
The exact price for each tier is detailed on our Pricing page. This delay starts after your file has been verified, not from the moment you submit your form.
WHY IS A PRIOR VERIFICATION NECESSARY?
Before forwarding your file, our team checks that all the information and documents provided (passport, photo) are compliant. This step, which usually takes a few hours, helps avoid file rejections that would considerably lengthen the real processing time.
DAILY CUT-OFF TIMES
To benefit from the announced delay, your file must be submitted before one of the two daily cut-off times: 08:00 for the morning session, or 14:30 for the afternoon session (Vietnam time). Past 14:30, your request is automatically processed in the next morning's session — keep this in mind if your departure is imminent.
NATIONALITIES SUBJECT TO SPECIFIC CONDITIONS
Some nationalities follow specific delays and rules:
- Mauritania and Egypt: a single tier, urgent 4 days, not available for land border entry.
- Turkey and Israel: from 4 hours to 4 days, with land border entry supported at every delay.
Contact our team to confirm the delay applicable to your nationality before submitting your request.
HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD YOU APPLY?
We recommend submitting your visa request at least 5 to 7 days before your departure date, to allow a safety margin in case a document needs correcting. It is still possible to apply just a few hours before departure by choosing one of the express formulas (1 to 3 hours), provided you respect the daily cut-off times.
WHAT CAN LENGTHEN THE DELAY?
Some elements can lengthen the processing of your file:
- An unreadable or non-compliant document (blurry photo, soon-to-expire passport)
- Missing or inconsistent information in the form
- A period of high demand (school holidays, public holidays)
To avoid any delay, double-check your information at the review step before sending your request.
HOW DO I TRACK MY FILE'S PROGRESS?
Once your request is sent, you receive a confirmation e-mail. Our team then contacts you again by e-mail as soon as your file is verified, with the secure payment link.
